watford1gti 0 Posted August 2, 2007 right the pug is still very poorly, ive changed the plugs, leads, dist cap and rotor arm to help this problem but it hasnt got any better, i had a mate do a compression test through the spark plugs he said it gave good readings for an old car, when its ticking over it sounds ok, but when you put your foot down it hesitates in the low revs but once its revved through the lumpy bit it revs ok, but as soon as the revs get low it starts doing it again. my mate said it could be the afm, havent had much to do with these so a bit confused, is there a test i could do with it to check its good? also does a 1.9 fit?? any help please matt
Guest RT19 Posted August 2, 2007 Sounds like you've a similar problem to me. The advice I've been given is other than leads/ignition could be the SAD/ECU sending too much fuel. Check the replies to my tech post "Coughing, loss of power". Good luck! Matt
matty_gti 20 Posted August 2, 2007 Swap the dizzy over, that may be the problem....does the problem change at all with the temp?
watford1gti 0 Posted August 2, 2007 right matty_gti do you mean swap it back to the old one? RT19 i cant find your post about yours "coughing" sounds from the brief description sort of the same. About the sad from reading through old posts these are found underneath the dizzy am i right? are they quite easy to change? and you say the ecu do you mean changin it? hopefully i should be purchasing a working afm from on here so that would be another possibility off the list. if anyone has any more parts that could help let me know. cheers so far people.
