Guest gtigor Posted August 1, 2007 Hello everyone! I have a XS rear suspension on my 205 GTI (conversion from XS), i found rear disc brakes with stub axels and going to replace my drums. Soon i plan to replace torsion bars and ARB for GTI ones and wonder if they fit? The splines are the same? I also searched the forum and found out that the arms have different toe in for GTI and other models 205 (3.6mm vs 3.1mm) - is it a big concern? Did anyone drove a GTI with standart trailing arms? how did it feel?
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted August 1, 2007 The torsion & anti roll bars will fit straight across to the XS beam from a GTi one but you will need the arb end plates from a GTi beam to fit the arb. Can't really say about the difference in toe in between the radius arms but after fitting ZX arms to mine I can't tell any difference. Graham.

Thanks Graham! you seem to be real 205 guru Yesterday i took my car from the garage (rally team specializing on pugs and russian Ladas ) with replaced front shoks, springs - its awesome!!! I am really shocked, the front end is so stiff now, eats bumps really good, it became much more responsive and the steering wheel is full of information. In comparasion to the front the rear end now seems way too soft and. The guys from the team recommended me to put some firm dampers (like konis) if i cant get GTI ARB and TBs soon. Do you think its worth doing? Cos buying new TBs and ARB is pretty expensive and i dont see any chances of finding used ones now... And buying new parts is a metter of time - need to save up some sum.
Grim.Badger 15 Posted August 2, 2007 I know they are long but the TB and ARB aren't heavy; maybe you could get some posted over from the uk? I'd offer mine but one of the TBs is firmly rusted into the trailing arm. Out of interest how do 205s stand up to the Russian winter?

There are no problems with the winter except the chemicals used on Moscow streets, earlier it used to be salt (really agressive) and now some sort of chemical - may be its not so dangerous. But given the 205 body is zink covered its stands pretty well, the shell of my 205 is of 1988 - there is some rust but nothing criminal. I plan to respray it and clean all rust in about a year.
