Piston Liners, How To Tell Which Side Was Where

Recommended Posts

Bally

I have some liners I will use , but dont know which way they came out the other engine, I want to turn them 180 degrees as advisd by peple on this forum. Inside of them has a dark area on one side of the liner in each one

what side would that have bee, front or back of engine and what way should I put them in so they will be 180 degrees around. Also what is the maximum pitston liner potrusion you wuld go with. I want to get a nice tight clamp without risking water out the edge of the block.

The thrust face is on the front side of the block, so you'll want to put the liners in with the least top wear facing that way. make sense?

I can't see any point in turning them around. The wear point will still be there. Meaning gas will escape past the rings at this point. If they're that worn they should be replaced.

They are not worn to the point that they warrant changing.I just want to install them 180 around.
