Which Master Cylinder?

Recommended Posts

Dixon

I know this isn't on a 205 but some of you are using the same brakes and m/c's...

I've got rid of the ABS on my R plate gti-6 so need to change the master cylinder from a 2 port to 3 port.

Which one of these do I need? BMC4816 or BMC5134?

What's the difference?

Thanks.

Why don't you just put a T-piece in and keep the existing MC? Front brakes (with the T piece) on one circuit, and rears on the other.

Otherwise, I think you need BMC4816 as that's the earlier fitting which is what I think 306's use (like 205's) whereas BMC5134 will be the later fitting MC that won't bolt to a 306 servo AFAIK

Will the one port be man enough to cope with that then?

The car is used for racing only, but with the standard gti-6 brakes and braided lines from m/c to caliper.

Don't see why not - the brake system only a simple hydraulic circuit at the end of the day.

Good point, was concerned about pedal travel but now I've thought about it. The piston will still be displacing the same amount of fluid, just goes out of one hole instead of two!

Cheers Anthony, saved me a few quid there.
