Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted July 29, 2007 Just been thinking, I want to lower the xu10 lump on the drivers side for MC clearance. IS the actual rubber mount a bolt right through? I was thinking of possibly taking 5mm of rubber of one end so it can sit lower that way. Ive got a couple of old mounts I could experiment with first but dont want to waste a load of time if its not possible. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

mos 1 Posted July 29, 2007 the bulkhead where the servo mounts is not exactly the strongest i used a pry bar under the servo to slightly twist the servo upwards and to the right it only needs a tiny amount to give decent clearance on the timing belt cover as i am running bodies and did away with the s16 coil packs i was able to use a standard mi16 cam cover aswell which helps no end. this is how i went from having no clearance at all when i first fitted the engine to having quite a bit. hope this helps mark Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
cossie350 0 Posted July 29, 2007 I have moved it down on mine, i will try and get some pics up if you look at the part of the mount that sits on the rubber there is 10mm you can cut off, then i rewelded another plate inside the mount and drilled a hole in it for the stud from the rubber to go through. Its a bit tricky to explain but the 10mm makes the gap comfortable instead of close. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
James_R 3 Posted July 29, 2007 in that case a 2L 8v engine mount from the XM or 605 is using an Mi top elbow means you can extend the studs and put a 10mm spacer in between the upper and lower mounts. petert 585 Posted July 30, 2007 I had an old top mount remade 15mm lower in ureathane, so it's overall height was 60mm, by a local company called Noltec. I've also offset the servo by using washers to push it up and more towards the left. The only issue with this method is that you upset the seal in the firewall.
