Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted July 28, 2007 About to embark on my first ever mapping quest and need some basic pointers to get me going. I reaaly havent a clue how it all works Do you just set ignition advances and then tell the ecu what AFR's you want? I know that sounds basic and I first have to set up what size injectors etc. Or is it a case of I have to sit and adjust the amount of fuel manually at each RPM? If anyone has any experience with MS reading this and wants to give me a step by step to getting started it would be much appreciated. Is megatune the only software to use or are there any others I should be looking for? Also what about programming for the pug senders for temps etc, how do I go about this. Sorry for all this basic stuff
James_R 3 Posted July 28, 2007 to start I'd aim the AFR at 13.8ish as for the ign map, what compression/cams/induction are you running? Sandy maybe able to help with a basic map for that. If you get megatune working should be easy enough, if you have to map it yourself then you'll need someone to drive for you while you map it. Have fun, I just take it to an RR to mapped much quicker and easier on a powerful light car.
petert 586 Posted July 29, 2007 Start with a standard ign. map. Map the fuel - 14.7:1 at light lights, 13.5 mid. and 12.7:1 heavy loads Then map the ignition, looking for maximum torque. Redo the AFR's, as changes to the ign. will make subtle changes to the fuel loads. Hope that helps.
Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted July 29, 2007 well sod it, I cant get it to communicate with the laptop at all. Not sure if its the usb adapter or the ecu at fault. It does power up with ignition though as the middle LED comes on for a second or so.

Some work, most don't and others give intermittent problems. Steve
Mattsav 1 Posted August 10, 2007 If your having problems with a USB adaptor then turning the FIFO buffers off in windows usually does the trick.
