309 Front Anti-rol Bar On To 205

Recommended Posts

ricky1.9

I've searched the forums but cant find the answer.

I was hoping to go for a stiffer front arb as it rolls and scrubs tyres (Clearways - Brands) so was thinking of a 309 arb.

Will it fit straight on (if I can find one) ie is it the same length??

As far as I've found out is that it has a different mount/bracket plus will need larger bushes.

Oh, have 205 wishbones.

cheers

Straight swap, just needs the larger mounts and the different bushes. I've got one on my own 205, and works well in conjunction with a thicker rear ARB

If you could modify a front arb from a car like mine, the 309GR, which has the older/weaker type of suspenshion and the arb in a much less favourable position to do it´s job so it´s thicker(23mm) then the GTI one. But since it "holds" the wishbone on the GR you would need to modify it or fabricate fittings for the droplinks.

Just a thought if anyone need a thicker one yet. Should be possible to fix some kind of fitting for the droplinks on it.

sounds possible maybe in future but haven't really got the time. My grandad has an old 309 in his field burried in the bracken and I did have a look under the front of that but couldn't see any sort of arb on that so i guess if it did have one would be a bit of a mision.

I run the 309 front (21mm) and a 309 beam with a 24mm arb and find that works very well, but i wouldnt advise just fitting the front, i'd uprate the back first otherwise you loose lots of traction exiting bends and enduces understeer as i found out.
