Which Ignition Leads For Xu10j2 Head Running A Dizzy?

Recommended Posts

Anthony

Quick one for people out there running XU10J2 (2.0 8v) heads with a distributor - what ignition leads are you using?

I need to order some replacements and I might as well order some that fit properly this time rather than the make-do XU9JA ones that I'm using currently.

Standard XU5/XU9JA (1.6/1.9GTi) ones are the correct length and the ends are the right fitment, and indeed they fit to a point but they have the boot on the end that's meant to seal against the resessed spark plug holes on the XU5/XU9 head - which the XU10J2 doesn't have and the plug stand proud of the head - and hence look a bit daft, and the XU10J2 leads don't fit as they're designed for a wasted spark coilpack and hence have the wrong ends and aren't long enough.

I was thinking pre-1991 XU9J2 ones (405 SRi, BX GTi) before they moved over to MP3.1 and wasted spark should fit fine, but none of my local motorfactors have a set in that I can check before I buy, and the scrappy doesn't have any suitable cars to borrow some from to check fitment either. Either that, or I spose I could buy another set of XU9JA ones and swap the boots over for some XU10J2 style ones, but I'm sure there must be an off-the-shelf fit lead.

So, what are people using?

Cheers Miles

I guessed that they'd probably fit, but was loathed to have to pay for a set without knowing for definate - I'll get some ordered now :)
