Daxed 7 Posted July 22, 2007 I seem to be spending more on replacement speedo cables than petrol. Genuine Pug item, steady as a rock and noise free for a few hundred miles, then a serious wobble at 70MPH, followed by that horrid sound of it snapping. Well aware of the exhaust heat issues on R/H drive cars, but what would cause a new one to let go?
Edp 67 3 Cars Posted July 22, 2007 Maybe the speedo drive in the gearbox is causing it extra stress? i know the drive in my box is causing my needle to wobble at low speeds. I cant see heat effecting it after such a small amount of time. Its not catching on anything is it?
hengti 2 Posted July 22, 2007 seems odd; where has it snapped? if it has snapped at either end (as opposed to somehere in the middle), might that suggest that there's a fit problem at that end?

I'd whip the drive end off the gearbox and check the plastic drive for damage. I've had stripped and deformed teeth on these, one totally ground down on one side and locked solid as well as cracked drive rings from the driveshaft part.
