smighall 1 Posted July 15, 2007 I have a 6 speed box to put on my 205 with a new Kaaz diff. I took the diff casing off the new box to remove the diff, and it looks like it has quite a lot of small cracks in it, so i'm not too keen on using it. So is it possibly to take the diff casing off my 1.6 be3 box and swap it over or are the 6 speed box diff casings unique to the BE3/6 box? M3Evo 0 Posted July 15, 2007 Think those are just relics of the casting contracting meself. If they were cracks, they'd probably leak oil.
RossD 44 Posted July 16, 2007 Think those are just relics of the casting contracting meself. If they were cracks, they'd probably leak oil. I've seen marks similar to that on almost every BE box I have removed to do a clutch change on. (Which is only all of 3 ) I just see them as normal now!! (Was worried at first, but nothing ever came of them)

Guest martyn_mcg Posted July 17, 2007 i found similar cracks on an ally engine somebody had tried weilding but as the ally is porus and soaks up the oil it can turn into a messy job and often crack in such a manor on poor quality castings
