Guest gtigor Posted July 15, 2007 i have searched thoroughly the forum, but most topics concern the technical side: fitting issues, arches rubbing and so on... i did not found out how the car behaves with wider rear track and stiffer rear end? i have 205gti front wishbones and have oe front suspension in a couple of weeks, how will this combo work with 309 beam assembly? the balance? throttle mid-turn control? i really hate understeering cars and i would sacrifice some stability for a more lively chassis (in reasonable limits ... will it work? road use and some rally-sprints (track for 2d gear)
BERTMAN 40 1 Cars Posted July 15, 2007 id have thought having a wider rear track would make it more likely to understeer...
Guest gtigor Posted July 15, 2007 id have thought having a wider rear track would make it more likely to understeer... i would agree but... the stiffened torsion bars and ARB will add oversteer
niklas 1 Posted July 15, 2007 This has been up a couple of times before. I think the general consensus is that a straight swap will make the car feel more planted. Balance-wise not much differs but the car will be more stable, so many people like it that way!
jonD6B 0 Posted July 15, 2007 Keeping the standard front track and fitting the 309 beam should help turn in. Make sure you fit solid bushes if you want to make a real difference to the cars handling though.

After weighting the financial part of 2 options: - used 309 beam - or used 309 brakes, new TB and ARB (which might be costy...) I`ll take a decision (at least i`ll have my old beam) Edited July 15, 2007 by gtigor

cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted July 22, 2007 not sure what you meant by new TB and ARB, but 205parts make and sell uprated ones in various sizes, that will probably be cheaper than PUG OE ones as well, so you may want to look into that . as for the solid suspension mounts (and nother mounts and bushes throughout the car, pay a visit to BakerBM. as far as i'm aware, they both will give you a discount for being a member of this forum and they both ship internationally . hope this helps.
