Repairing A Distributer

Recommended Posts

Guest tim_1.9

After some rather robust internal cleaning of the distributer, my 1.9s engine sometimes cuts out when I put the clutch down. I don' think it needs any adjustment. Is it possible to replace parts inside the dizzy or do I have to replace the whole thing? Does anyone know if there is any where that does refurbished ones?

If you search there was a post a little while ago about dizzys etc and about a place that rebuilds distributors.

Sounds like you have adjusted the ignition timing. This can dramatically impact your tick-over...

Thanks. Found previous thread, that was actually me as well - spelling distributor wrong this so I could find it again.

Could just be the ignition timing, the engine seems a little down on power as well, but having taken the springs inside, out and not definitely fitted them back in the right way round. It could equally be them.

Well 2nd hand dizzys aren't uncommon so if you get stuck you could try another (or just borrow one to try).
