Gti-6

Now that I've had the 6 engine in for a couple of months and clocked up a couple of thousand miles and started to get used to it, obviously the amount of hard driving it's getting is increasing.

Being new to the 6 conversion side of things, I'm interested to know, what sort of temps other peoples oil and water run at, counting all the notches on the gauges.

Maily interested in roughly 30 mph, 70 mph, how qickly it heats up whilst sat in traffic and how hot it gets when giving it some stick say up to 6000 rpm in 2nd, 3rd and fourth and whatever in fifth.

I've had a look around the forum and can find loads of info on the Mi16 but not anything that really helps me about the Gti-6.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave :D

Well not a 205 but I have a Xsara VTS with the same engine. The water heats up very quickly. It can be up to normal temp which is just below 90 on the gauge within 5 minutes also its only ever gone slightly above 90 even in traffic. The oil will start moving over 5 minutes only just, normally takes 20 minutes to get to normal which is just below half on the gauge (I forget the number), ive never seen it go more than a mm or two over half even when under heavy thrashing down some lanes

My water heats up pretty quickly and sits just above the 4th mark normal driving, when I start giving it some it shoots up to nearly the 5th mark and hovers between the two, as soon as I start driving sensibilly again it goes back down pretty quickly.

When I'm sat in traffic the slow fan is enough to keep it under control, high speed fan has nevercome on, and it's never actually overheated.

The highest my oil temp has been is the 4th mark on the gauge and normally it runs around just below the 3rd mark.

Was just inquisitive to see what others peoples ran at really.

Thanks for the help
