Rupertfinch 6 Posted July 11, 2007 The rear beam is getting tired, I say this because I had to catch a twitch on a perfectly dry road on a fairly gentle bend. Whilst going sideways is fun, and scares the twits in 1.2 clios attempting to attach themselves to my rear bumper, I'm getting a little nervous about it's behaviour in the dry. I replaced spax rear dampers with brand new O.E.M. peugeot ones and am in the process of putting new O.E. Bilstein shocks with BBM fast road top mounts on the front. I'm not really into fiddling with ride height - so was wondering if anyone who has standard ride height also has solid rear mounts? And if so, have they lessened the likelyhood of the arse over-taking the front? Cheers, Mark.
Super Josh 4 Posted July 11, 2007 Hi Mark, yes soild rear mounts will raise the point at which LOOS occurs on any ride height. If your rear beam is behaving so badly are you sure it's not a case of shot bearing on your beam? When was it last refurbished? Josh
welshpug 1,677 Posted July 11, 2007 how long have the rear tyres been on? I say this as the pair that were on the back of mine hadnt worn down much in 3 years, and they eventually started letting go scarily easily, they had gone hard! Once a new pair was fitted it was glued to the road again.
Rupertfinch 6 Posted July 11, 2007 Thanks Josh. Stupid me! The beam is very soon off to a local motorsport preparation company to be fully refurbished, so I figured that then would be a good time to get the solid mounts put on. Any preferences or recommendations as to rear mounts?

Rupertfinch 6 Posted July 12, 2007 Welsh pug. I'd already explored that avenue about 4 months back. Originally it was running CEAT spiders (nasty kwik-fit crap from it's previous owner- although surprisingly expensive), so I put some Vredestein Hi-trac on the rear (supposedly good in the wet) couldn't get Bridgestone Potenzas Re720 that day and I was in one of those moods where instant gratification is required! Richie-Van-GTi 74 2 Cars Posted July 12, 2007 Ive drove a 205 with the vredesteins on, they are dreadful tyres IMHO.
Rupertfinch 6 Posted July 12, 2007 I'm coming to that conclusion myself. Still reckon that most of the arse-out fun is due to rear beam, but tyres could also be a bugger. So having spent £85 and got about 1.5k out of the tyres what should I do? I think swapping fronts for rears is my only option, balls!
