Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted July 10, 2007 normally an execsive tap in the head is a sign of previous pulley/belt failure. Look at history check for regular belt changes and make sure you put new on when you buy it for peace of mind.
VisaGTi16v 1 Posted July 10, 2007 The cambelt tensioners must be done with the belt. Recommended 40k or less intervals. When I bought my Xsara its belt had been done 5k before. When the cover was taken off a few K later due to a noise there was a mad amount of slack due to worn tensioner. Garage didnt know how it hadnt slipped Should idle nice and evenly, oil temperature should take quite a while to get up, mine barely moves after the 7 minute drive to work but will eventually budge. Should rev nice and cleanly to 7250 (some rare P1 306's were rumoured to be 7400)
