joni 0 Posted July 10, 2007 Ive got some elec window mechanisms to fit to my 205 as the roll cage door bars stop me from winding up/down the windows without opening the door. Was intending on making up my own loom so purchased some switches which resemble the ones in a bmw I think or maybe its a ford? Either way theyre meant for electric windows. Also got some wire etc. Decided to fit the mechanisms first after checking that they worked and it turns out theres already a loom (or part of) in both of the doors! I can plug straight on to the electric window motors which is great. I havent got any further as didnt have time but was wondering where the connector for the switches would normally be? There are a couple of unconnected multiplugs (5 pin I think) in each door but I thought that Electric windows in a 205 are usually located just in front of the gear stick? Either way I want to modify the loom to allow one switch to be placed very close to my navigator for his window and two switches (one for each window) on the dash to the left of the hazards/rear window demister etc. I just want to know where I should tap into the existing loom in order to connect up these switches and whether theres anything else I will need to do with regard to the relays/fuses in the car. Perhaps the wiring loom is already connected at the fuse/relay box end??? Any help appreciated.
Baz 421 Posted July 10, 2007 No that sounds correct, 5pin plugs in the door for the switches. They're usually located in the front of the door pocket rather than as you say in the centre. The door looms are plugged in behind the dash, then into the fuse box, so probably the ideal place to tap into, for your drivers one at least.
Anthony 1,003 Posted July 10, 2007 If you've got 5 pin connectors in the doors (a pair in the drivers door, and a single one in the passenger) then it sounds like you already have the electric window looms installed and just need the switches (probably easier picking up a set of Peugeot ones so they plug straight in) and motors installing. Guest ralphy1 Posted July 16, 2007 i had a problem with my electric windows since having an alarm installed.the wiring was messed about with by previous owner, not the easiest job locating loom connection.
