pugpaul 1 Posted July 5, 2007 In huge need of help here! Got my Pug set up yesterday and all was good. On the way to work this morning she sounded like she was firing on 3. I bought some more spark plugs, 3rd lot in 2 weeks now and fitted those.....no joy! I have also fitted a new fuel filter. I spoke to a mechanic earlier who said it could be my coil. The symptoms im getting are a very jerky ride at low speed and stalling when i take my foot off the throttle for the 15 mins or so of driving. I have just been out trying to work out what the problem could be. After a few mins i put my foot flat to the floor to which there was a pause before the engine picked up, then juddered and stalled. My rev counter does not work either.....dont know if this could help diagnoise my problem? Thanks in advance for any advice as driving to work was horrible and want to get this problem fixed! pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted July 5, 2007 The rev counter feed is from the coil so it could simply be the wire has come off or is broken. Is your coil inlet mounted or inner wing? Have you tried a different ignition amp? Also have a look at the condition of the plug on the lead from the side of the dizzy. pugpaul 1 Posted July 5, 2007 Hi Graham The coil is on the manifold, a little round one. I put new plugs in after work today and she still runs really bad. Its one of those really anoying problems....the jolting whilst at low revs. If reved when standing still it sounds so much like an HT lead has been taken off. Cylinder 1....top terminal nearest engine (To the left if looking straight down on the engine from the front of the car) Cylinder 2....underneath ^^ Cylinder 3....top terminal nearest water res' ((To the right if looking straight down on the engine from the front of the car) Cylinder 4....underneath^^ The problem seems to ease after 10-15 mins of driving, its still there just not as bad? pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted July 7, 2007 That looks (& sounds) right for the HT lead order. This picture shows the right order, even though the picture is an Mi16 head, the order & lead locations on the cap is the same. Have you looked the the dizzy flylead?
