welshpug 1,657 Posted July 3, 2007 clean the threads with a wire brush beforehand, and lube them up. most of these you can insert a torx bit in th enf of the threaded part to hold it while you undo the nut with a spanner. if youre going to fit new ones just cut through the nut with an angle grinder, usign a thin cuttting disc but leaving a little of the nut attached, a sharp tap with a punch will knock the remains out. Jrod 7 Posted July 3, 2007 What do you mean by pops out? You need to hold it with a spanner and undo the nut on the end at the same time.
dodsworth_gti 11 Posted July 3, 2007 the ball jointy bit comes out off the link, its the one that bolts onto the shocker!!! didnt see anything to get a spanner on to hold it with thanks ben
welshpug 1,657 Posted July 3, 2007 sounds like theyre completely shot so just get the angle grinder out!
Alastairh 47 Posted July 3, 2007 If the ball is popping out the link then it sounds like you need new drop links! They're not too expensive, and you'd be surprised the difference new ones make over worn ones Alastair

Peetypug 5 Posted July 3, 2007 the ball jointy bit comes out off the link, its the one that bolts onto the shocker!!! didnt see anything to get a spanner on to hold it with thanks ben get a 13mm spanner directly behind the bracket it bolts to (well i think its 13mm) then you can free the nut they are made so a spanner fits (pull the rubber away a bit and you will see)
hengti 2 Posted July 3, 2007 they're about £20/ea at ECP/GSF; quality and longevity is variable though as they use various suppliers some of the ones i've had haven't had the flat on the inside of the fixture point though - so they're a b*gger to get off once they've corroded. if you haven't got flats and are going to replace them anyway, use mole grips
Dream Weaver 2 Posted July 4, 2007 I bought a pair off eBay for £23 and they seem OK to me.
