marsy 0 Posted July 2, 2007 Hi Ive noticed one of my bump stop's is missing, does anyone now how i go about putting a new one on? Do i just have to stick the new rubber mould to the base plate, or change the whole thing? Thanks
Daxed 7 Posted July 2, 2007 They tend to disappear when the base plate including its fixing bolt rust away. This will leave you with the shank of the rusted base plate securing bolt still in situ. Mine easily unscrewed by tapping anticlockwise with a centre punch and hammer. I was then able to bolt on a new base plate and insert a new bump stop with a touch of spit to lubricate and a screwdriver to help ease into the base plate. If the central securing bolt wont come out, some peops have simply drilled and tapped a couple of alternative fixings through the base plate into the web. Use a c/s fixing in this case as the bump stop has a central recess to accommodate the head of the standard bolt. If your existing base plate is in good enough condition to leave as is, then the new bump stop simply presses home.
