Sensitivity Of Brake Pedal In 205 Gti

Recommended Posts

Juani20516v

Hi, i´ve noticed that my friend´s 205 Gti has the brake pedal with much more sensibilty than my own brake pedal (also 205 Gti). Mine starts to brake as soon as you step on it.. but it get hard like 4 o 5 centimeters after you had step on it.. and my friend pedal get hard after 2 centimeters.. my car has really good brakes, but i would like to have a brake pedal with less centimeters to push, i´m beeing clear? I can algo tell you that i had changed the master cylinder twice, and when i had the original (that came with the car from factory) the brake pedal was the same like now.. what can i do, take out the MC and put a supplement that increases the sensibility of the brake? Thanks!

Worth trying to bleed it some more, make sure it's not an air bubble?

have you checked the adjustment of the servo unit?

the dimensions in there are quite critical, the end of the Pushrod should be 22.2 to 22.4 mm from the front face of the Servo's min body where the M/C bolts on (make sure the seal isn't there)

on the back of the servo the rod attached to the pedal should be 86.5 to 89.5mm from the mounting face to the centre of the pin to the pedal.

also the servo should be attached to the lower hole in the pedal.

that should keep you occupied for a while :)

Yeah, very sure that it isn´t an air bubble.. there´s something with the brake pedal and the comunication with the MC.

When i post my answer i didn´t see the second post... i will look and mesure that things.. today mi mecanic said to me that the Servo´s axis in the point (where it meets with the MC, or if you prefer to call it the axis that enters into the MC) has like a bolt with a registry that can be modified.. or i am incorrect?

In a few days i´ll take the MC out and check.. it has to be 22.2 to 22.2 from the point of the axis that it´s move by the pedal, to the outside face of the servo?? and the mesure from beside the servo i didn´t really understand what i have to mesure, something with the pedal attaching the servo??

I think some pics would help. Welshpug, I see what you mean about the rod on the MC side, but I don't recall the rod on the pedal side to be adjustable?

Can the rod settings be adjusted just by taking the MC out, or do you have to bother taking the servo out too?

It's very important to be really accurate when adjusting the servo rod to MC clearance. A small change here has a much larger effect at the pedal. The brakes will bind on if you adjust it too far.
