Hate to be a know it all, but the they are Catalytic convertors, they are simply Oxiding 2-way cats, not the 3-way cats that modern fuel injected petrols have. Particulate filters are all new technology and are appearing on the newest HDi's and other diesels now. They have all sorts of electrical gubbins to monitor them and potentially cost a lot to fix (And being French, it will go wrong!)
