Dash And Driving Lights

Recommended Posts

DamirGTI

Hi !

Driving at home tonight i've notice that my dash light switch in and out once :D just sarp cut out for a second and it come back on :D , also few miles after that the driving lights sudendly goes dimmy for a split second and come back just like that dash light :o

WFT is wrong with this car :D ?!?

Also i've notice that dash lights are a bit dimmy when i start the car for the first time from cold , and the battery warning light sometimes lights on (when i just switch the conntact not start the engine yet)and sometimes it dosn't light at all . However it never lights on when i drive and it shouldn't as far as i know .

I've fit spare alternator few days ago because of the weird idle speed when the colling fan cuts in and idle speed starts to drop down to 500-600-500rmp swing up and down all the time but i ditn't fix that with this spare alternator ..

The battery is around 4years old (maybe 5 :) ), but i didn't check the voltage must do that tomorow ..

What could be wrong ?

Thanks B)

Damir

When you say dash lights, do you mean the clocks illumination. ie speedo etc? :)

They are on the same fuse as the side lights if that's any help,

or yes try a new battery, or you may have a bad earth somewhere?

Sam.

Hi !

Yes , entire dash-clocks illumination vanish for one second and come back on , but everything worked and car drives fine just that illumination flicks off and on for a second and then after that driving lights start to play silly games - go dimmy etc. :):D

I will try with new battery and will ckeck earth wires :D

But speaking of the earth wires how much earth wires do you have giong from the battery negative ? 1 or 2 ? i have just one tick wire which goes on the top of the gearbox (i remember having one more tick wire there which was connected from the gearbox to chassis but i remove that when i was fitting new reconditioned engine this year..)

Thanks :D
