a brand new AFM from GSF would be £250, a remanufactured one from ATP would be £150 exchange, not sure how much the sad would be.

LOOOOAAAAADDSSAMONEEEEEY!!! :)

What's wrong with yours? A friendly (& knowledgable) Mot tester will have a fiddle with the AFM whilst on a Gas analyser if need be, but what exactly are the symptoms of your problems?

If you do need them, i'd advise just buying known good ones from someone off here. :D

Expensive! You're looking at about £150 upwards for an AFM.

You're better of getting a cheap 2nd hand or reconditioned one from a scrappy, breakers, ebay etc.

Why exactly do You need one?

All 205 GTI's have bad 'idling', it's a known characteristic of the car, but adjustments to the AFM can sometimes help to improve it.

you may have done it already , but if you havent , check the integrity of the entire intake/breather system . give the sad a good clean. you can check you're afm with a mutimeter . please use the forum search facility , theres pages and pages on these subjects.

just trying to help you spend a few hundred quid less
