I got given a camsheft last night from a lad at work :D

He says its for a 1.9 8v and he thinks its a kent cam(but he aint sure) :)

The part numbers are KCPT27 and 807G(i think that might mean kent cams something) i've bin on thier site but cant seem to find anything

He didnt give me any followers or the rest of the kit though :) (begars cant be choosers i suppose)

He says its only done a few thousand miles and it does look in good nick

Any info would be greatly received(spelling?)

it's a PT27

search that in the kent.com site.

pretty lumpy stick you got there, have a 272 if you wanted to swap to something tha't's suitable on std injection.

As said, it's a PT27 which is a race/rally cam - 304 degree duration, 12.4mm lift, and 4.3mm lift@TDC (ie lumpier than school custard)

cheers lads

stupid me put i just pt27 and found it straight away :D

it looks like its the bigest one they do(i dont think it will be good for a road car)

I dont know whether to fit it or not :)

i'm gona be running R1 carbs and dont know if they will fuel it properly

i may even strip a 205 out and make myself a hill climber (when my sorrento is finally finished)

I would run it if you are having a carb set up, may still be a mare at idle but a slightly raised toickover will prevent any stalling and will be a nice kick up top.

i would love to put it in, my 205 is only going to be a weekend car so i could probably live with it.

i rang kent up yesterday they said its best suited to 45mm carbs. the mikuni ones i have are 42mm so thats close enough as i've been told they are meant to be better than webers/delortos

what exactly comes in the cam kit is it all uprated parts?

To fit it you'll need a vernier cam pulley to adjust the cam timing, and by the looks of things uprated valve springs to run it, so that would be a head off job.

so around another £200 ish for the other bits, then re-shim the lifters

id deffinatley fit the cam and r1 carbs, infact thats exactly what im doing lol, the powerband for the cam though fades off around 7200 rpm so if you set the limiter to that you will get away with normal springs, and id stick nw lifters in other wise you could wear the cam/ lifters out excessivly fast, (also if you stick with the std springs the head wont need to come off )

im taking the headoff anyway :)

im fully stripping the whole engine to give it a new lease of life :D

its done 114000 so i think its due a clean up

if i put that cam in, will i need to do anything to the bottom end?

im not after mega power but want the whole thing to be bullet proof :)

what have you had to buy to fit the carbs? (ive got carbs, choke cable and fanimold up till now)

eg, what regulators and other bits that i might need?

iv only just done a `mock` fit today i used a shenpar manifold which is good but 1) expesive (£205 total lol ironic ehh) 2) not a verry good fit onto the carbs a bit of `cough`bending was needed, and finaly the two coolant holes on the cylinder head went coverd buy the manifold si i was squirted with coolant!!!

apart fom that i got a seccond hand facet red top fuel pump off ebay for 20 quid or so, and a second hand pressure regulator for about 15quid,

another thing which i still havent got round to yet is i need to take the fuel pump out and put basiclay a hose into the tank, a round bit of ally and a bit of ally tube welded up should do the trick

apart from buying the above you just need to do the wiring and throw away the ecu, the wiring is a litle scary if you dont know your way round but if you need help with it send me a pm,

as for the cam and the bottom end you will be fine, but like i said earlier a new set of lifters is a good idea, you best off just gettint the bottom end re`cond, as close to oe spec as possible and if you can balance everything up ;)

hope this helps

Paul
