Big Brakes 283mm From 307

Recommended Posts

Its an already over- discussed subject, but i want to tell my Big Brakes conversion if it will be of any help to any future conversions for your guys.

I was pissed with my 247 mm standart brake setup so i went and bought

brand new Pug 307 Calipers+Yokes from Peugeot dealer,

brand new Brembo 307 283 mm disks, brand new Textar brake pads.

because my original brake pump also dies few months ago (dont ask me how i drove the Mi16 for a month) i went and got a 22,2 brake pump standart from 306. Brake Fluid is DOT 5.1 Motul RBF - its actually uprated 5.1 with over 300 Degrees boiling temp.

It was a straight fit , everything went so smooth i couldnt believe it. Calipers/Yokes straight fit, disks straight fit and even my Speeline alloys were straight fit over the calipers with 2-3 mm of distances, just i had to 'scrape down' the balance weights from inside the alloy. (the hubs had to be grinded well so that new disks fit nice)

but now its all nice and funky ^_^ still disks bedding in so i cant test them for real, but

here are some nice pics of the procedure.

forgot to say, car has standart 1,9 8v suspencion/ hubs, etc.

The car brake pedal has some 'distances' when pushed ...so it travel some ..and just then the brakes start to 'hit'. But i like that.

I choose not to go with 23,8 brake pump just because i wanted to have that first travel distance without any serious brake and then it gets.

p.s. the bleeding was a bitch, may be because of mu fu***ed brake pump which i drove for 5000 km. but we managed to get most of the air out. will go and check again in a week for more air.
