Cost Of A Head Gasket Replacement, Inc Labour?

Recommended Posts

benson

Hello,

I've searched but didn't have much luck finding what I want to know. I'm wondering how much a head gasket replacement would set me back, including parts and labour. Would the head necessarily need skimming? For someone who's never got their hands dirty before, is it an unthinkably difficult job?

I know justgtis say about 315 quid, wondered whether from a smaller local garage i'd be expecting to pay more or less than this?

Cheers for all advice,

Ben

Id say from a smaller garage it would be cheaper. A head gasket isnt that much realy and most of the cost would be labour. The head would only meed skimming if its warped??????

Id say 4 hours labour £150 ish then the head gasket.... ive no idea how much skimming is though.

I can do it for £150 plus cost of a skim if it needs it (around £35)

Just to add I would always get the head skimmed or at least given a little 'polish'. The cost versus hassel factor does not weigh up in my opinion.
