Henry 1.9GTi 36 Posted June 23, 2007 When cleaning up the subframe I happened to grab this: And it moved! wasnt expecting this as I have never seen any discussion realting to this part, just thought it was bolted straight to the subframe. I took it off to get a look at the bush and give it a clean up, seems like it has alot of movement there. perhaps canceling out the effect of a hard lower engine mount? What is the purpose of this bush and how much movement should it allow, mine is contaminated with oil and grime and seems to move around quite a bit. Is it worth replacing and where can you get hold of them. what have you guys done? Any info or advice appreciated. Thanks. Henry.
Richie-Van-GTi 74 2 Cars Posted June 24, 2007 They do have a bit of movement in them, from the forked end I would sy 1cm up and down and 1 inch side to side but all the movement should feel like its in the bush if that makes sense. If yours is worse than a new bush shouldnt be too much from Pug, unless bakerBM does them?
lagonda 42 Posted June 24, 2007 Could also be that the bolt/nut weren't tight enough.
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted June 24, 2007 Yea it will flex a lot with the engine out but when the engine is in the way the engine twists against it it doesn't move loads.
