Recommended Posts

Yep i've got one, 8v turbo sitting in the shop waiting for dropping in. :)

Im just really gonna be needing help and advice with it down the line cos im not 100% sure about everything. I've been reading and listening alot but there is a few things im not sure about like how some little bits go together and other little things like that.

Its from a citroen and is looking pretty mint, Turbo is nice and solid and everything seems to be there, got box loom ecu keypad and code with it. Gonna get head all done and stuff so i can uprate boost but need to fab and get the mother in there first and running.

Can anyone advise any info (haynes etc) i should be buying for the engine, Also uprated parts and stuff i can get for it

Cheers boys

Looks like im gonna be on here more often in the coming months :)

Do a search on user "sonofsam" He and several others have done a very good conversion using this wonderful engine. I know, I run one in its native habitat :)

As for a Haynes for this engine, forget it. The Citroen XM Haynes makes passing reference to it whilst the Xantia Haynes denies it even exists! Haynes are a waste of paper really.

It is, essentially, just an 8V XU with a low-pressure turbo stuck on it. There is nothing clever or unusual about it.

All the info you'll ever need will be found on this forum and my other regular haunt

Have fun and love the engine!

Yep I've done it, wouldn't bother with the Haynes or any manuals as they aren't any help. The only bits that can cause difficulty is the wiring as that seems to differ between cars, though my engine is out of a xantia so I should be able to help you with some of those problems.

The other area is the cooling system, I think everyone on here seems to have done a slightly different layout of this, if you search for a post on this there is diagrams on how we have all done this :)

Get it running first and try and sort out all the niggles before you start upping the boost I would recommend, I am having a few problems trying to sort out a constant miss I have at the mo and it can be annoying as there is quite a few sensors and the like on this engine.

If you come down to the next north meet as you are from Nelson and pretty much next door to Salmesbury where we go then you can come down and take a look it mine if that would help.

Is a great conversion, the only thing is you get used to the power very quickly and it becomes slightly annoying the lack of any puff above about 5krpm, but other that that they are feckin quick :)

Cheers

Alex
