Purchased Mi16 Calipers And Discs Off Ebay

Just purchased front calipers,discs and pads from an mi16 off ebay as it said on the listing that they would fit straight on my 205 1.6gti.I tried dong a search on here to see if they would fit but I couldn't find a definative answer.Does anyone know if they will fit?

need 1.9 hubs and driveshafts i would imagine but the discs and pads would fit within the 1.6 calipers? correct me if i'm wrong

I may be totally wrong on this but dont think they will fit. As far as i know they will only fit onto 1.9 hubs but im not 100% on that.... im sure a search will pull up the relavent details, but if you have looked then im not too sure what to say

405 discs are a different offset to 205 ones

You're a bit stuck if you keep the 1.6 hubs as nothing fits.

 

If you swap to 1.9 hubs+driveshafts (or base-model hubs, which will mean you can keep the 1.6 driveshafts) then you can fit 306 GTI-6 brakes, 266mm 307 brakes, or the 283mm setup from the 2.0 307 or 206 GTI 180.

So just to clarify, if I change the hubs to base model ones will the mi ones fit?

Mi16 calipers DON'T fit 1900 GTIs.

 

I don't know whether or not they'll fit 1600s though. Someone will know/no harm in trying.

Thanks for the quick responses.I've sent the guy I Bought them off a message telling him they wont fit so I'm not gonna pay for 'em.I'll keep a look out for some different ones gti-6 or something.

Right,I've managed to source some 307 2.0 hdi calipers from a breakers £111 delivered.On ebay someones selling some brand new 283mm vented front discs and pads for the 307 hdi for £49 delivered.So if I buy these and some base model hubs I'm in Business right?And these will definately fit under 1.9 rims?

That's right.

 

With base model hubs you get the same choice of calipers as 1.9 hubs, but you can keep the 1.6 driveshafts.

 

283mm brakes should fit under 1.9 wheels fine, although they are a TIGHT fit - ~2mm clearance.

Depending on where the balancing weights are fitted you might need to remove them, get the wheels rebalanced and the weights placed on the inside edge as they can snag on the calipers.

what breakers did you get the calipers from? was there more? lol
