gti-si 0 Posted June 20, 2007 Right, I post a thread about some kangerooing issues a while back, got some good answers, quite a few things to check. Since then, I've replaced the vac advance as it was shot. Whilst doing this, I took the SAD off and the water block housing it's attatched too. Gave the SAD and the block a good clean, put that back and connected the ECU temp sender and SAD back up. I also replaced the air filter with a green cotten one, which is slightly smaller than the K&N I had on before. I cleaned out the AFM with some petrol and a tooth brush too. Since doing this the car has been running lumpier and the kangerooing is alot worse, even does it when lightly accelerating now. What I've noticied, is it feels like the engine is more cutting in and out, so could it be ignition related? I have had the dizzy cap off, dizzy and that too. Leads, coil, amp? Would these cause kanerooing? On idle the engine is shaking a lot more, and the revs drop off quite alot, sometimes very close to stalling when the clutch is dropped, before rising to 1000 again. I sprayed WD40 around the intake manifold gasket and other places on the induction side with no effect so guessing theres not an air leak there, or will WD40 not be capable for this? So, with what's been disturbed, it's obviously made the problem alot worse, any bets on what it could be? Could a loose earth have this kind of effect? gti-si 0 Posted June 20, 2007 That did come to mind, I tried spraying some WD40 on the gearbox earth and on the plugs for the ECU temp sender...Is that stupid? I just guessed that it would make a better connection. But after that, seemed worse still :/ I just put the timing back to where it was before fitting the new vac advance, as it's already advanced. Perhaps I should put it back to it's original position before an advance and go from there, due to the vac adv now working. It stinks on idle though, so i'm gonna put a new temp sender in and get the mixture set up, possibly RR? brianthemagical 1 Posted June 20, 2007 nothing is stupid when it comes to fixing a 205. i'm still running my rebuilt engine in, it's done 700 miles so far so i'll be doing the oil when i get some. it will then be rr'd and set up but not before. the car runs ok and only has problems occasionally. if i were you then i'd get the mixture set at a garage first, see what that does. gti-si 0 Posted June 23, 2007 Just thought i'd let you know I fixed the problem, was a blown rotor arm. It started to missfire quite badly, so had a look at the arm and it had a chunk out and was quite corroded, the pickups on the cap loook abit sus too so i'll replace them.
