5150maxie 0 Posted June 19, 2007 (edited) has any one got any pictures of them fitted with mods to linkages? Edited June 19, 2007 by 5150maxie
205wrc 16 Posted June 21, 2007 They're easy enough to fit. What I did was, I ground the back of the little balls off flush with the arms, and then clamped the balls with a pair of mole grips, and pulled them out of the arms. That left behind a hole through which the bolts of the rose joints fit. I spaced the rose joints away from the arms by using some washers in order to get maximum movement from the joints and used some "allen key head" bolts and nyloc nuts. If I remember correctly it was 4 x M6 and 2 x M8 Excuse the mud.........it is a rally car after all !!!! http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/3290/20...mage0153tl0.jpg http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/4060/20...mage0159qm4.jpg http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/1653/20...mage0155tc6.jpg http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/6360/20...mage0158yh2.jpg I hope that these are of some help to you. I made the linkage rods myself, and the difference its made to the car is amazing. I fitted one of the original "GE" quickshifts when I built the car about seven years ago, and I thought that was good, but coupled with this mod, the gearchange is bomb proof and will never pop off again. Deffinately one of the best things I've done to the car.........you won't regret it.

James_R 3 Posted June 21, 2007 mine has the ball cut off then a short section of M5 rod welded on to the end. If the box is off the car then cut the ball off then drill and tap a thread and wind in a stud, be better than the welded option my box has cause you can replace the stuf if it snaps then, I'd be stuff it it broke currently :s
205wrc 16 Posted June 22, 2007 is yours a be1 box? Yep !! BE1 mongrel box with gears from a 1.6GTi and 1.9GTi and an MI16 final drive. The ratios are very good but after doing only one event and about 600 road miles its started to crunch in to 2nd gear if you change up or change down quickly, so it looks like its coming out for another rebuild - possible cause 1st to 2nd syncro hub maybe ???? Any ideas ??? The last thing I want to do after working in a garage all week repairing other people's cars is to faff about with my own in the evenings and on weekends !!!
