Be1 Gearbox

Can anyone tell me what the gear ratio's are in a 1.6 309 sr. Are they the same as a 1.6 GTI or are they the same as the 1.9 405sr ?

According to haynes they are;

• First = 3.331:1
  
• Second = 1.88:1
  
• Third = 1.280:1
  
• fourth = 0.97:1
  
• fifth = 0.76:1
  

With a final drive of 3.81:1.

 

This is different to the 87 309 SRi I ran alongside my 88 205 GTi 1.6 as they had exactly the same ratio's & were both Be1 gearboxes.

 

Haynes quote the same Be3 gearbox as the 205 GTi 1.6 for the 309 1.6 carb versions & the same ratio's as the 205 1.9 gearbox for the fuel injected ones.
