Changing Crank Oil Seal On 1.9 8v

Recommended Posts

JamesLumley

Hi Folks,

The 1.9 8v engine in my track car has an oil leak from behind the crank pulley on the off side.

Question is whether there is a seal behind the pulley which can be changed with the engine in the car or is it an engine out job?

I've had a good search on the forum but not found any answers.

Cleaned down all the block before running up the engine so I know it's definately comming from there.

Never had to take a pesky 8v to pieces before so all help appreciated.

Cheers James

Yes there is a front crank seal that sits behind the bottom pulley, you will need to remove the cambelt pulley to gain access to it. It can be done in the car without too much fuss.
