webby997 0 Posted June 13, 2007 I'm having problems with my 1.6gti (j reg).The problem is it doesnt start,it might start now and then but will not start all the time.It will though easily start when bump started.I've wiggled connections etc and the battery is only a few weeks old.Any help/advice would be much apprecaited.Thanks Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Mikey G 3 Posted June 13, 2007 Could be a bad earth, check the aerth connections on the gearbox and body near the battery. While your cranking the engine a bad earth could be taking all the power away from the ignition circuit which is why it will start on a bump. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
