Sunroof Needs Some Attention Help Needed Please.

Recommended Posts

Atari Boy

I will try and explain this as best I can; one of the metal outer strips attached to the glass of the sunroof has become unfixed from the glass.

When I open the sunroof everything seems to work but when I close it the metal strip between the glass and the roof kind of stays where it is a bit and I have to push it back into place.

I know it is not life and death but I am trying to get the car ship shape, any ideas, it looks as though there is some kink of mastic there, is it ment to be there or has it been bodged before?

Can anyone assist?

thanks

Jonny

I know exactly what you mean, I pushed the metal strip back, applied a smear of bodykit glue then pushed it back, worked a treatafter that. Probably not how its supposed to be attached but it works.

I assume he means something like Sikaflex or Tigerseal - A PU adhesive sealant. Should do the job nicely :)

slide it so the runner away from glass, clean the areas that should contact, apply the adhesive and then slide it back together and leave for 24 hours to cure fully. Best tip is have a kitchen roll handy for wiping excess as its messy stuff if it gets on paintwork.

No, the best tip is to wear gloves! :)

Once it dries on your hands, you'll never be able to wash it off, you'll just have to wait for it to wear off, which could take weeks!

Your not wrong about that we use sikaflex at work for windscreens and that stuff must of been made to stick to skin like sh*& to a blanket.

That's the best bit of advice you can get but I still never do it.

I got this on my fingers mid last week....

It gets in all the cracks on your fingers then just won't come out!
