New Big End Bearings

If the only thing that is new is the big end bearings, do i need to run them in? or are they just good to go?

They need to be run in, as they are the weakest point of the XU engine, If you;ve seen the one's I;ve seen or what remains you would see what I mean,

Just keep the rev's down for a least the first 500 miles

Need to be run in by thursday :ph34r: , is it ok to do lots of miles in one go, without any cooling down in between or does it need to be short runs with complete cool down before another run?

I can't see any need to run in big end bearings. They float on oil so how does running in have any affect on them?

Makes you wonder how on earth they (or the crank) ever wear out then really doesn't it :rolleyes:

We dont run in the big ends on my alfa engines but we get the rods honed so they are true to begin with - the clearances are correct then so no need for running in.

Very controversial this, but if you didn't replace the piston rings you should be good to go.

 

But just sign this for me.
