S16 Iron Block Engine And Tyre Pressure

Recommended Posts

mos

hi

just wondering, i currently run the standard 29psi front 29psi rear tyre pressure

but now i have the extra 30-40kg of an s16 iron block engine coupled to some heavier 306gti6 front brakes should i really be loking to increase the tyre pressures, particular the front?

the car is mainly for road use, runs standard 1.9 wheels and 185x55x15 goodyear f1's

the tyres always look a tad low on the front now at 29psi (checked when cold) but i could just be imagining it!

thanks

mark

I'd leave them at oe pressures & run it for at least 1K to see if the tyre wear pattern changes & if it does see where the wear is & adjust the pressure as needed but I doubt you'll need to chenge them at all.

The 205 STDT uses the same size tyres as the 1.6 GTI & the same pressure but with the XUD7T lump instead of the all alloy one I bet the weight difference is more than 40kg's.

Graham.
