What Set Up Are You Running (mi16)205

Recommended Posts

As it says really what suspension and brake set up are you running in your mi16 205s

I was going to uprate the pads with ds2500 and goodridge hoses and keep the suspension standard mainly to keep it looking standard. Do you think this will be ok or should i do more?

Thanks in advance

283mm 307 front setup, ds2500 pads

309 wishbones

200lbs springs, GAZ coilovers - set to medium damping

rebuilt rear beam

Solid rear beam mounts.

Gaz shocks set to medium/hard damping

it understeers when pushed, and has no lift off oversteer.

going to try a 24mm rear arb to redress the balance.

Blue Mi;

Good OE shocks all round, lowered quite a bit.

Recon'd std Brakes, work fine, Mintex pads & decent fluid.

A little skitty but very predictive, I like it. I actually prefer it to when i had Koni's all round on it.

White Mi;

Wilwood Dynalite 4pots, Polymatrix D pads, fully braided lines.

309 shafts & wishbones

GAZ coilovers, 200lb springs, 306 hubs.

309 beam

Solid mounts.

Bilstein tarmac shocks

Not sure how it drives yet though! :P:D

Front,

Wilwood Dynalite 4 pots, Mintex 1144 pads and 285x24mm discs, braided end hoses, 23.8mm MC.

Bilstein Challenge shocks, SBC springs, GrpN top mounts, 309 polybushed arms.

Rear,

Std Calipers, Ferodo pads, braided end hoses and compensators.

Bistein Challenge shocks on 309 beam, GrpA mounts.

Soon to have some mods though, the beam is getting ZX arms, and a 24mm ARB. And I'm planning on changing the springs up front.

Quite like the setup, certainly the shocks changed the dynamics of the car from the previous Sprintline setup. It now melts Eagle F1's quite easily and is desperate for stickier tyres, although the surge/Mi16 issue come into play then :P

My track Mi has:

309 front wishbones & driveshafts & rear beam solid mounted. Leda adjustable coilvers with progressive springs up front with Bilstein dampers at the back. I have Powerflex bushes ready to fit for the front. The car is quite (very) low and i'll most likely be raising it one spline at the back ebfore venturing onto track again.

In terms of brakes I torn between weight and balls out stopping power, I have the standard 1.9 calipers front and rear with Mintex 1144 pads, and drilled 'n' grooved discs, but i'll probably go for some gti6 front calipers if/when they swing my way cheaply enough. I'd certainly say the standard 1.9 brake setup is enough for my stripped out car, I didn't experience fade or excessive wear before taking it to bits.

Super blue brake fluid

Have previously run Grp A Alcon 265mm fronts with a variety of pads, F2's, Mintex 1144's, etc. but was never really impressed.

Have recently moved up to AP 285mm's and 4-pots up front and what can I say - they are fooking phenomenal :) . About the limit for what can be fitted under a standard rim; I've heard of some going to 300mm or thereabouts but requires aftermarket rims.

Boring! ;) Think of how much all that hard work will finally be rewarded when you do get to drive it though! It'll be worth so much more then! :)
