Engine For Motorkhana Car

Recommended Posts

petert

I'm helping a friend build an engine for a motorkhana car. The chap we're building it for regularly comes 1st or 2nd in the National Championship, in his carefully modified 1.9L 205. As the classes are based on wheel base, not engine capacity, we're thinking a stroked iron block is the way to make him unbeatable.

The plan so far is put an 88mm crank into an XU10J4R. We deliberately chose that engine because it has smaller ports and valves. Can someone confirm this?

The aim is to build as much low end torque as possible. Does anyone else have any other ideas?

Something like a V6 possibly, or is that just too much work?

Either that, or possibly add a supercharger to a 2.0+ litre engine if it doesn't have to stay N/A? Something with a Rootes design like an Eaton M45/62 would be ideal I'd have thought for lagless boost from near idle, and M45's from Mini Cooper S's are cheap as chips

Super Josh

How about boring and stroking an XU10J4RS? Smaller valves and less chance of the dreaded oil surge?
