Gavin Waddell 18 Posted June 5, 2007 I had to take my car to a local garage today for a antiplollution test, the garage was about 6km away, as i was driving there i found the car was feeling under powered, as i was deiving back it was struggling to cope with anything above 30mph even in 2nd, thats when i started to smell brakes i thought it was the rears but no it was the front when igot in they were so hot that they were smokingm and the car could barely get up the drive in 1st with losds of revs. im running 307 calipers fresh from peugeot, braided lines all round i think its a 22mm mc, standard 1.9 rears. after id let things cool downthen wheel was free to move. now the local garage told me to release the blled nipple if fluid came out it meant that the mc was holding pressure thus the piston was out, but nada. i spoke to another mechanic and he said to check the play in the caliper he said the should be about 5mm ive got 2. the discs are 283x26 i was wondering if any one could tell me pad thickness, od if peugeot ran the same set up but twith skinnier pads. im stumped i did the same journey when i had the mi in the car and now i have to go up with the 1.6 and it doe this. if any one has got the pad thickness or any info on disc and pad combp htat would be great. thanks gavin
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 6, 2007 Did you have the 22mm mc fitted last time you drove it with this set up? IIRC the rod in the servo needs adjusting to prevent it applying the brakes slightly when fitted to the 205 servo. Graham.
Gavin Waddell 18 Posted June 6, 2007 pug torque you pretty much know everything about the little 205, i had achat to a mate and he said the same thing but he is a ferrari mechanic so it was just a general mechanical answer. i checked it when i got in and well the rod acts on the master cylinder by 2.5mm might be enough for the pad to touch and everything started heating up. had a look at the adjuster and well i cant adjust the thread the shaft just spins, obviously needs a special peugeot tool to hold the splined shaft and turn the nut. so i will stick the old master cylinder on. cheeers graham
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted June 7, 2007 You should be able to adjust the pushrod in the servo, a few people have done it before on here. This topic might help. You have to adjust it when you fit a 406 mc as well, iirc you need to hold the rod with some pliers. Graham.
