Engine Out And On To And Engine Stand

Recommended Posts

Engines is coming out and is going on to an engine stand. I'm Looking at buying the Sealy ES350, any advice? I know it's only a stand but if you have any do tell.

What do I need to secure my Mi16 to an engine stand? Never had a look at one so I don't know. Read something on here about using old head bolts. I presume that's because they are long? I don't have any these, what else can be used, how long do they need to be and what thread? Where does is actually get mounted? Does the flywheel have to come off?

I'm asking as I want to have everything a I need in place before it comes out.

The stand bolts onto the block using the holes that you bolt the gearbox onto.

The threads are standard M10 (10x1.5mm). How long they need to be depends on the stand, but I would guess at 80-100mm.

I used M10 bolts on mine that were about 4 inches long i think..they were longer than required but they dint hit anything on the other end so i guess were fine. Remove your flywheel before otherwise you will have to undo one of your mounting bolts to squeeze it out later - I made that mistake.

The mounting plate comes off the stand and you can fit it onto the engine while its on the ground or wherever. Then lift the whole engine with the plate and just slot it into the stand. Pretty straight forward.

M10 studding and some nuts is probably easiest. Just remember that they shouldn't be too long if you want to rotate the engine on the stand!
