dodsworth_gti 11 Posted June 3, 2007 any one got any idea how to undo these where they meet the copper pipe?? i know there is litle nuts to undo,but mine are well rusted on and cant get them undone and they are just rounding of!!! i dont want to do any more as im scared off them been completely round i was going to put a nut cracker on them to get them off but again,i dont want to damage any thing does any one have any idea's for them??? also,rear braided hoeses,this is a 1.6 beam,,it wont be possible to use braided will it?? thanks ben Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
sonofsam 5 Posted June 3, 2007 An ideal would of been ( although this may come too late) to soak the unions up in Plus gas or WD-40 then use a proper brake line spanner: if they have started to round off though, youre best bet would be a really tight grip with a pair of mole grip's,. although this could round them off further Not sure on the other 1.6 question, as I redid mine to 1.9 spec Sam. davev 1 Posted June 3, 2007 (edited) ive just been out opening all my rear pipes ready for renewal. first give then a good clean with a wire brush and plenty of wd40, then hold the brake hose side with a 17mm(think) spanner and grip the brake pipe side nut tightly with a pair of mole grips(mine had rounded too). they should crack open and undo, if they are still tight spray with wd40 and work the nuts open and closed for a bit. hope it helps. dave.
