Mi16 Centre Main Bearing

Recommended Posts

jas-E

Im in the process of stripping down my mi16 engine and wanted to take the crank out today. All the main bearings came off with a little tapping, but the centre main bearing doesnt seem to want to budge. Its the one with the nuts on it as opposed to the bolts. I even removed the studs from it using two bolts and it stll doesnt seem to want to move.

Has anyone come across this problem when stripping down their engine? Is there a way of removing the centre bearing?

All help is much appreciated.

Jas

This one had me confused for a little while.

Look on the side of the block centrally where the main bearing you are trying to remove is situated, and you will find 2 bolts holding it in from the outside.

I must have spent about an hour gently trying to get mine out, only Gtidrivers saved me from taking ever bigger hammers and chisels to it

Edited to say - there is 1 bolt on each side of the block

i was past the stage of picking up a bigger hammer, after dismissing the bolts as not being the problem, and about 2 hours. i then decided to remove the bolts and the cap came off. thanksfully that block turned out to be scrap anyway but that escapade did prevent my from potentially damaging the block that was/is in my car.
