Richie-Van-GTi 71 2 Cars Posted June 1, 2007 not if it was only run for a short time and the coolant didnt drop dangerously low with a very hot engine.
tomo205 0 Posted June 1, 2007 the car was ran for just a short time, I have tightened everything up and I'm not losing any coolant, but she is still smoking bad? white smoke and i have mayo on the dipstick
matty_gti 20 Posted June 1, 2007 (edited) the car was ran for just a short time, I have tightened everything up and I'm not losing any coolant, but she is still smoking bad? white smoke and i have mayo on the dipstick OOo sounds dodgy ....thats why i didnt buy the lynz 205 as the seller was very vague in anserwing questions....but im sure theres some silly logial reason. It may take a while for any water in the exhaust to evaporate out. However mayo on the dip stick doesnt sound good. Could be the head gasket and water is getting into your oil but if your not loosing any coolent then who knows???.... Pug_Power_Dave 0 Posted June 1, 2007 Doesnt sounds too good, usually a head gasket if theres mayo in your oil, there mayo in your oil filler to? sometimes it can just be condensation in the engine if its been stood a while! Poss try an oil and filter change and engine flush then see if it comes back! Cheers Dave

jshep205gti 3 Posted June 1, 2007 usually a head gasket if theres mayo in your oil, I disagree...it's not usually the head gasket. It's usually blocked breathers and/or too thick oil. Do you take your head off everytime there is mayo in your oil filler or dipstick?!?! Shep.

All the times it's happend to me the heads been gone and not blocked breathers, as have tried cleaning them but to no avail (on a range of cars here not just 205's). was propper f**ked as they say lol, or the condensation thing if they've been stood, but then that usually clears up with abit of running and oil change. max0 5 Posted June 1, 2007 id do a quick oil change, and check the old oil for water. Id also try a compression test on each bore to see if this highlights a head gasket fault... very strange it didnt do it before changing the manifold tho... are you 100% all the pipes are on correct?
