calvinhorse 870 Posted May 31, 2007 in order to fit my bike carbs i need to cut off the bolt on the top engine mount closest to the inlet this will leave only 2 bolts holding the engine to the mount,... so has anyone done this before? is it safe? is there another way round it? any tips? thanks for lookin c a l v i n h o r s e
trogboy 17 Posted May 31, 2007 People do do it but I have heard of problems with snapping the alloy arm afterwards due to the increased stresses. I got a custom mount made up in steel by a friend. It uses the two remining studs and three other threaded holes in the water pump housing. This has been covered a few times, including recently, so it is porbably worth a search for a more in depth answer.

Yep, I'm making up a custom mount for my engine as the manifold has to go where the mount currently sits. I wouldn't trust a cut mount, last thing you is your engine suddenly coming adrift The Euro Rallyes used a mounting system very similar to what has been described above, in fact a Euro Rallye mount will fit the other alloy blocked engines, but afaik Peugeot no longer make them unfortunatly. Take a look at Sams old custom mount (JRod has it now.... Though it wont fit an alloy block!! ) for the type of thing you will have to make.

RossD 44 Posted June 1, 2007 (edited) im guessin it wouldnt have worked on a vtr bottom end? have u got anymore pictures of it jrod? please?! The VTR block is an iron TU5 isn't it, so yes it would!! It wouldn't have worked on the alloy blocked engines though. It's mine now If Jrod hasn't got any more pics of it, I'll take some detailed pics and some measurents for you when it arrives if you like.
