How Do I Get This Out!

Hello all,

 

Well when i replaced my cam belt and water pump i relised that my top engine mount was completly past it......

So ive just got round to getting and hopefully fitting a new one however i cant get the bloody thing out!?!?! ;) , any ideas would be great!

What you need to do is use a chisel/flat blade screwdriver and hammer it around

undoing it, on the metal ring underneath were yours has broken off.

There is a captive nut underneath.

Hit it with a hammer and chisel on the metal ring.

 

edit: too slow, less than a minute in it though ;)

Hello all,

I had the exact same problem when i changed my cam belt. You really need to whack the life outta it!!Well whats left of it anyway..

 

I found that if you smack the bottom metal ring on the side, that shakes it up abit, then fit in a pry bar on the notches and go mental at it. It'll open eventually and once cracked you can open it with your hand.

Also be aware that if the captive nut starts spinning or gets threaded,

you will be in a whole new world of sh*t!

Never has the term 'Kiln' been more appropriate! Or when the thread snaps off your brand new group N engine mount :S :D
