Wiring Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi, does anyone know what the sensor on the back of the alloy MI16 block is? also how many wires go to it (as i think it has 2 terminals, and is the wire that goes to it white in colour??)

Also on the back of a 8V stat housing there are two water sensors next to each other, what colour wires go to each sensor as i have 1 red and 1 yellow wire but am unsure on which sensor they go to?

thanks

Matt.

The sensor on the back of the Mi16 block if its a two prong one is for the oil level sensor & not used in a 205.

The wires to the sensors on the 8v thermostat housing are red to the smaller of the two senders (often has a red ring on the sensor) & yellow to the taller sensor (often has a green ring on) iirc. If you cross connect them all that happens is the water temp guage won't work so you just swap them over if this happens.

Graham.

Quite possibly, if it has a ring terminal on the end its almost a certainty.

it hasnt got one there now as it fell off monts ago(at the begining of my rebuild/never ending fight to get my car back on the road!!) as the wire was crusty.

Thanks

I replaced the sump wire today (oil temp sensor). Its a white wire with a small ring termination on the end. It is quite a thin wire which may or may not have been left to rub against the driveshaft by some numpty who cant be trusted to install an engine properly.
