grandos 16 Posted May 24, 2007 I have just noticed a rattle coming from my be3 gearbox which isn't overly loud but is none the less still there. It goes away when the clutch is depressed. jonah 1 Posted May 25, 2007 Is it most noticeable at idle in neutral with the clutch up? If so I know the rattle you mean, it is from the gearbox not the release bearing but is nothing to worry about. I spoke to a gearbox specialist about this when I first noticed it on mine, he explained what causes it and why it is completely normal especially on cars with a light flywheel such as the GTI.
