Weight Differences Between 8v 1.9 And 2.0 16v Steel Block

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the weight differences between a standard all alloy 8V 1.9 GTI engine and a 2.0 16V steel block engine out of a 406?

The storey is i have been offered an engine out of a 406 in good order for the right money but I'm worried about upsetting the handling of the car.

Has anyone got this setup? Any comments?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

The actual difference between the alloy block with liners in and the iron block is 17kg. But the cranks and flywheels are different too, so i'm not sure what the total difference is.
