Brake Pad Help Please

Recommended Posts

TVR Gary

I have probably bought 20 sets of these in the past and everytime I get asked a certain question and cant remember the answer ;):oB)

I am always asked what caliper type I have.

I thought it was only the 1.6 which had either Bendix or Girling and why have I got lucas in my head too ;):D

So on a 1.9gti 1990 car what should I have? I think it's Girling?

Cheers

Gary

1.9 GTi calipers are Girling, and 1.6 GTi are Bendix

Its the non-GTI 1.9 205s such as the Gentry that use non-Girling calipers, if its a 1.9 GTI it has Girlings everytime as Anthony has said.

I thought ABS 1.6 has Girling as well.

I think it does, but for the sake of simplicity, since they're so rare I've not included them.

This thread is about *front* calipers.

All 205/309/306's with disk brakes use the same Bendix rear calipers.

My apologies, I thought I'd try and save some time/annoyance/bandwidth by not starting a new thread, my understanding of it was that its almost as annoying as not searching :)

Thanks for the info anyway :)
